Abstract

The integration of heterogenous component systems and databases into web services makes XML Schema increasingly important. Proceeding from type models for programming languages and XML Schema, we define a bijective mapping that allows lossless round-trips. The web service scenario and our experiences in defining the mapping motivate a series of suggested improvements to the XML Schema standard.
