Organisation Register Member Reg.

What is the ANDF Consortium?

In order to further develop and control the ANDF language, a consortium consisting of actively working members is established. All members have a commercial or technical interest in ANDF and participate in order to either contribute or being notified about the next generations of the ANDF standard. The members are selected from European industries or from Research institutes. The ANDF Consortium is a non profit organisation.

The background for the ANDF Consortium is that the standardisation efforts within ISO failed due to lack of votes among the countries participating in the associated working group. The ANDF Consortium evolved from the former ANDF Consortium.

Objectives of the ANDF Consortium

The main objective with the ANDF Consortium is to control a stable evolution of the ANDF language.
Large investments have already been made in ANDF technology, and for some companies, ANDF also plays a key role in their commercial products. At the same time, ANDF has to be further developed. New requirements particularly set by the new object oriented languages, performance reasons, portabilty reasons and similar make updates necessary. The ANDF Consotrium intends to avoid dialects within the ANDF language, but still secure a future for ANDF.

Another long term objective is to get some sort of standard associated with ANDF. The ISO effort was one such effort, but other options might be available.
